Mountain Bike Riding Tips For Beginners

How to Ride Mountain Bike

Mountain bike riding is actually quite different than your traditional bike riding.

There are a lot more skills needed and it can certainly take quite a toll on your body so being in fair to great shape is a good idea to start.

Of course just like any other bike the premise is the same. A mountain bike has two wheels, pedals, a frame, handlebars, brakes and many other parts that your everyday normal bike has.

The big difference is a mountain bike is built to take a lot more abuse. When I say abuse I simply mean the bike will have to stand up to a lot rougher conditions then just pedaling down the local streets of your city.

When it comes to mountain bike riding you want to do some practicing before taking on the trails.

Just by looking around it may seem easy to handle a bike on the mountain trails but at the end of the day, it does take some skill in order to make sure you walk away with all your body parts intact.

The idea thing to do is practice somewhere before ever hitting the trails. This can be done anywhere like in your yard, on the street, at the park or just about anyplace you can think of where you can ride a bike.

You want to practice all the actions you can possibly think of. You want to make sure you train your body to respond to what the bike does. Very quickly you are going to notice mountain bike riding is actually much different than your traditional bike ride.

Another thing to take into very serious consideration is wearing your safety gear. I know 20 years ago a helmet and pads may not have been cool but seriously now 20 years later it is actually very uncool to not wear protective gear.

The bike ride you are about to embark on can be very brutal to your body. You do want to understand your body's limitations and make sure you stay within them. You will experience a lot of twisting, jerking, jolting and so much more. For these reasons alone you want to make sure you keep your body in the best shape possible.

Well now you have practiced, you are in shape and you feel you are ready to hit the trails. Just remember even though you feel ready you should still start slowly. Most places you go will have different trails with different degrees of difficulty. I suggest you start with the easiest one first.

All in all, at the end of the day your ultimate goal should be to have fun while mountain bike riding.

Being an avid mountain bike rider Josh too made the mistakes when he started.

The sport can be as fun as anything you do as long as you take the time to learn the proper way of doing it.
